PS3 outsells Xbox 360 in U.S. for first time in 32 months

The NPD has revealed that PlayStation 3 has managed to outsell the Xbox 360 in the U.S. for the first time in 32 months.

Sony’s seven-year-old games console hasn’t scored a victory over its Microsoft rival since January 2011.

The NPD report notes that PS3’s retail performance was boosted by the release of the Grand Theft Auto V PS3 Super Slim bundle.

Despite beating Xbox 360 for the month of September 2013, PS3 couldn’t rule the roost entirely, with 3DS taking the hardware crown for last month. Wii U also experienced a surge in sales thanks to the launch of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.

Sony will launch its successor to the PS3 in the U.S. on November 15 and in the U.K. and Europe on November 29.
