It’s 2023, but Sony Interactive Entertainment wants you to know that PS3 system software update 4.90 for you to download. That’s probably not something you would expect to read, but hey, old Sony consoles never really die, do they? Look at how PS2 went on for all those years.
Anyway, here’s the official blurb straight from Sony’s official website:
An update to the PlayStation 3 system software was released on 28/02/23.
In order to download the update, you need a minimum 200MB of free space on either the PS3 Hard Disk Drive (System Update) or on removable storage media (PC Update).
Always update your PS3 system to the latest version of the system software. By updating, you can enjoy additional features, improved usability, and enhanced security.
The PS3 was released in November 2006 in the US and Japan, and rolled out in Europe in March 2007. The system is Sony’s lowest-selling hardware outside of handhelds, moving 87.4 million units as of March 31, 2017.
