Another fresh firmware update has been pushed to PlayStation 3 systems, upgrading the current system software standards to version 3.70.
The update adds some interesting and useful changes – most of which are only for PlayStation Plus subscribers. See below for a full list and description of the updates/changes.
For PlayStation Plus members:
* The [Automatic Download] feature is now named [Automatic Update] as a result of a change in functionality.
* Save game data can now can now be backed up in a much easier fashion, with a new auto upload function. Simply press Triangle on any title listed under ‘Game’ in the XMB (disc or downloadable) and a selection will be available to automatically sync the save data to the cloud.
* Trophies will now sync automatically during the user-selected Auto Download time period.
General updates to system software:
* Users are now able to recommend PS Store items, such as games and videos, with PSN friends directly though the store product page.
* A new category has been added to the XMB named ‘TV/Video Services’ which will include video applications like Netflix, Hulu, NHL GameCenter Live, and more. This section will list all services that users can download for their respective regions.
* 3D support is now available when accessing Java-based special features on Blu-Ray.
* DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HR decoding/bit stream output (or lossless audio) will be supported while playing Blu-ray 3D movies.
* 3D digital photos in MPO format can now be viewed in 3D on the XMB and in the Photo Gallery app.
