PS3 UK sales stand firm despite Xbox 360 surge

According to the chaps at Eurogamer, sales of Sony’s PlayStation 3 in the UK were not overly affected by the recent spike in Xbox 360 adoption following the launch of Microsoft’s Kinect and Treyarch shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Sales of Microsoft’s home console in the region more than doubled after Kinect’s launch on November 10, though according to the report, hardware figures failed to turn up a discernible slump in the performance of Sony’s black box during the same period. Wii sales also managed to brush off the Kinect boom too, for that matter.

The site further notes that all three major platforms experienced a significant boost in weekly sales in the time leading up to Kinect’s release. Nonetheless however, DS took the crown as the highest selling system in the UK for the past five weeks prior to Kinect’s launch.
