PS4 and Xbox One sales in China are ‘disappointing’

According to data from Niko Partners, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have both sold disappointingly in China since they were legalized in the country.

The report claims that combined sales of Sony and Microsoft’s current-generation machines are predicted to reach only 550,000 by the end of 2015.

Niko notes that sales will likely improve if a price cut is put in place, in addition to the release of more triple-A software for both formats in the country.

This is despite the fact that revenue generated from games consoles, software and Smart TV games is expected to reach $654 million this year. That figure is anticipated to reach as high as $3 billion by 2019.

PS4 was released in November 2013 and has already sold more than 22 million units worldwide, giving it a comfortable lead over the Xbox One. The console holds a market share of 70-90 percent in European territories.
