Chart-Track is reporting that PlayStation 4 sales in the U.K. this week were at their biggest since launch thanks to Black Friday.
PS4 sales skyrocket thanks to Black Friday deals
According to figures gathered by the organisation, PS4 hardware bundles over the popular shopping period saw Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End rocket back into the Top 10 at number eight, followed by DriveClub at 20 and Ratchet & Clank at 25.
Furthermore, Daniel Ahmad, a video games analyst, put PS4 sales during this period at a whopping 140,000. This gives the console its second-biggest ever sales week, beaten only by the launch of the console back in November 2013.
We don’t know how well the PS4 performed in relation to the Xbox One, although no doubt Microsoft’s current-generation console also enjoy a boost in sales thanks to the Black Friday deals.
Sony has had a pretty significant year with the PS4 in terms of hardware. Back in September, the format holder launched the PS4 Slim, a redesigned version of its flagship console, and in October joined the virtual reality gaming front with the launch of PlayStation VR. Finally, November 10 saw the release of the PS4 Pro, a more powerful version of the regular machine offering 4K gaming, increased frame rates, and various other performance enhancements.
The PS4 has been outperforming the Xbox One in terms of global sales for some time now, although in terms of monthly U.S. sales Microsoft’s machine has recently gained the advantage, outselling its lead rival for the past few months thanks to the release of Xbox One S. Still, we’ve yet to see how big of an impact PS4 Pro has had on the performance of the console.
Sony has a number of major exclusives lined up for next year, including Horizon: Zero Dawn, Gran Turismo Sport, and God of War.
