In a tweet to a PlayStation 4 hopeful, the ever-present social media champion Shuhei Yoshida (who doubles as Sony Worldwide Studios’ President) confirmed that PS4 will support up to 4 simultaneous DualShock 4 controllers.
This is a small-yet-notable step down from the seven Sixaxis/DualShock 3 controllers supported by PS3, and even further from the 8 (!) controllers supported by Xbox One. Of course, it’s hard to imagine a situation for eight simultaneous players of any game. I thought the same thing about PS3, actually.

So, not entirely unexpected news, but still–there you have it. No need to run out and pre-order seven PS4 controllers, unless you plan to break them that quickly.
Actually, that’s a good question–how many PS4 controllers do you plan to pick up at launch, or down the road? Let us know in the comments below.
