PS4 firmware 4.0 update includes brilliant playlists feature

In the bowels of the PS4 firmware update 4.0 lies a few interesting features that you may not have spotted at first glance.

One of the coolest secrets has been discovered by Push Square, who have created a video to show how you can use Spotify to find recommended playlists for certain games. The ‘cool’ thing about it is that the music app switches up the song choices to provide different playlists for different games.

The video below shows how the soundtracks for No Man’s Sky and Street Fighter V differ. With the Street Fighter V playlists there are even different playlists to choose from depending on whether you’re playing as Ryu or Chun-Li. They appear to be custom-selected to fit those characters, and indeed fit the games that you play.

In No Man’s Sky, for example, you get a number of ambient tracks to select from, including Arrival To Earth by Steve Jablonsky.

Good job Sony!
