Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair

A reimagining of the PS3 giant insect-slaying, third-person shooter, Earth Defense Force 2025, The Shadow of New Despair puts players in the role of an EDF soldier in one of four classes. Fighting alien forces with over 175 weapons per class, from assault rifles to laser guns, players are on a mission to defend earth against the likes of spider-like creatures, robots and 120 foot tall lizard-like creatures. New enemies have been added to the roster for this reboot, AI has been enhanced and players will be able to team up to play four-player co-op.

 

Need for Speed

Ghost Games’ open-world racing game is a full reboot of the franchise and features an enhanced customization system and five new gameplay types, including Speed, Style, Crew, Build and Outlaw. There’s five overlapping stories to follow in the game as players drive around the urban playground of Ventura Bay partaking in high speed chases. The action in Need for Speed looks be fast and furious, and have you seen those photo-realistic car models?


The Peanuts Movie: Snoopy’s Grand Adventure

Release date – November 3, 2015 (NA), November 6, 2015 (EU)

The side-scrolling platformer, published by Activision and developed by Behviour Interactive is based on the upcoming ‘The Peanuts Movie’ which hits the big screen in November. In the game, players are on the search for Charlie Brown and play as Snoopy (or Woodstock in co-op). Snoopy can unlock new abilities along the way and perform special moves as he jumps, swings and collects coloured peanuts in typical platforming fashion through a dream-like, colourful world.


Call of Duty: Black Ops III

Release date –November 6, 2015

Activision and Treyarch’s explosive Call of Duty series is back once again, heading for the year 2065 at a time where science and technology has changed the face of warfare. Supersoldiers fight on the battlefield with a range of high-tech weaponry and skills, with a progression system that allows players to adapt their play-styles to suit. Four-player co-op gameplay, a vast multiplayer mode and the return of zombies are on the agenda for one of 2015’s biggest titles.


Alekhine’s Gun
Platforms – PS4

Release date –November 10, 2015

Described as being Hitman-esque, Alekhine’s Gun is under development by Maximum Games and is set during the Cold War with players in the role of a Russian assassin working for the American C.I.A. On a covert mission, Agent Alekhine must use stealth to move through Cuban and European locations infiltrating enemy bases, stealing documents and assassinating targets using a stealthy mix of silent takedowns, specialized weapons and even disguises.

Fallout 4

Bethesda’s open-world action role-playing game receives its fifth instalment with players exploring a post-apocalyptic Boston completing quests, building bases and crafting lootable items. Expect plenty of engaging NPC interaction with the locals, and extensive customization system and more than 400 hours of content in a title that is likely to be a true contender for game of the year.

Deadpool

Having already reviewed Deadpool on PS3, we highly recommend High Moon Studios’ hack and slash title, which receives a new release on PS4 this month. In this ‘mature-rated’ hilarious game, players are armed with guns, swords and whole host of wacky weapons and skills as they dispatch enemies in a variety of entertaining ways. There’s plenty of humour and references to video game culture that gamers are bound to enjoy. This PS4 version will also include all the DLC from the original.

Kung Fu Panda: Showdown of Legendary Legends

Release date –November 17, 2015

Based on the Kung Fu Panda franchise, obviously, Showdown of Legendary Legends features 24 characters from the franchise, including Po, Master Shifu and Lord Shen. It’s essentially a brawler game featuring a range of fight modes, such as Team Play, Tag Mode and the Tournament of Legends Mode. Each fighter has a different skill to bring to the battle, and a companion character which they can summon up during a fight.

 

Star Wars: Battlefront

Release date –November 17, 2015 (NA), November 19 (EU)

EA’s DICE Studio is taking on one of the biggest franchises in the world, and based on our impressions so far it’s going to blow fans away with its accurate depiction of the Star Wars Universe and characters. Traverse planets such as Endor, Hoth and Tatooine as one of the Rebel Alliance or a Stormtrooper while partaking in frenetic 40-player shooter skirmishes complete with familiar land and air-based vehicles. There will also be many playable characters from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vadar, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. The initial release will include 12 multiplayer maps. Sword Art Online: Lost Song

Release date –November 13, 2015 (EU), November 17 (NA)

Originally released on PS3 and Vita in Japan earlier this year, Lost Song lands on PS4 this month as the sequel to Sword Art Online RE: Hollow Fragment. It’s an action-RPG in an anime style in which players explore the colourful worlds of Aincrad and Alfhiem Online as characters inspired by the novel and anime series. It features co-op play, with up to three players online, PvP play, in-depth customization, and all-new aerial battles.

Norn9: Var Commons

Board a mysterious ship with three young men and nine young women to uncover the secrets that lie in Norn, in Idea Factory’s anime visual novel. The characters have special powers that play a pivotal role in the journey, but this adventure is shrouded in a mystery that you’ll have to uncover yourselves as you set out to discover the purpose of their journey.


Phineas and Ferb: Day of Doofenshmirtz

Release date –November 4, 2015

This Vita exclusive is based on the smash-hit animated TV show, and has been produced in collaboration with Disney. Expect the same humour, fun and chaos from the series as you battle Dr Doofenshmirtz and his minions across the city of Danville. Puzzle-solving quests and the option to play as three characters sees you on a mission to stop the dastardly doctor and a robot rebellion.


Superbeat: Xonic
Platforms – PS Vita

Release date –November 10, 2015

Another Vita exclusive, but this time it’s a rhythm game where players have to tap notes to the beat of songs using either the touchscreen of Sony’s handheld or the buttons. There are over 50 tracks on the playlist spanning multiple genres, including RnB, indie pop and progressive metal, and global online leaderboards so you can track how you’re doing against other players.

Professional Lumberjack 2016

Be a Lumberjack and chop down trees, prepare the timber, take control of machinery and make sure you protect the animals in Banda Namco’s latest simulation game. Not entirely sure what else there is to say, apart from: do we have to wear suspenders and a bra?


The Crew Wild Run DLC
Platforms – PS4

Release date –November 17, 2015

The new expansion for Ubisoft’s racing racing title features monster trucks, motorcycles and drift cars. If you need a reminder about The Crew, check out the review. It’s set in a large open-world environment in a recreation of the United States. There’s missions, mini-games, co-op matchmaking, and lots of racing!

 

Game of Thrones: Episode 6 – The Ice Dragon

The fate of the House of Forrester comes to its bloody conclusion in the final episode of Telltale’s adventure series, Game of Thrones. The Elder Scrolls Online Orsinium DLC

The largest DLC pack to date for Bethesda’s massive MMORPG features over 20 hours of new content, including public dungeons, and a new single player monster arena. In this pack you’ll be heading to the mountains of Wrothgar and to the Orc capital to unravel a plot against new enemies. The new Maelstrom Arena features nine combat rings and two difficulty levels, while the new public dungeon will feature epic new bosses.


Bloodborne the Old Hunters DLC

Release date –November 18, 2015

The first DLC pack for the epic action adventure game Bloodbone arrives this month and features new locations, bosses, weapons and armor. Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires

The fan-favourite ‘Empires’ series returns, but this time on PlayStation Vita as a digital title. It features all the DLC content from the previously released PS3 and PS4 versions and cross-save and cross-play functionality. Bloodborne Game of the Year Edition

If you haven’t been brave enough yet to experience the dark world of Yarnham and its monsterous inhabitants, then this edition of the critically acclaimed RPG is a good place to start. Essentially it includes the full original game, and the new Old Hunter’s expansion which is being released the week before.
