PS4 has lost sales due to low stock, says Sony

Sony Computer Entertainment U.K. admits that it still hasn’t caught up the demand for PS4 in Europe as it continues to struggle with stock shortages.

Speaking with TrustedReviews, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment UK Fergal Gara didn’t reveal the latest sales figures for PS4, but did say that the issue with supply has affected sales.

“We haven’t yet caught up with the initial demand across Europe,” said Gara. “We may have lost some sales. There is no update on PS4 sales figures right now, but suffice to say it is still selling, and selling very well.”

However, Gara says that Sony is close to fulfilling orders. “We are very close to being in a full supply situation, but we are not quite there yet,” he added. Back in February, Gara said that issues with supply should be resolved by April this year, but demand for PS4 continues to remain strong, particularly in Germany.

“A good example at the moment would be Germany who had phenomenal sales figures last week, but they just haven’t had enough stock so far,” he said. PS4 launched worldwide in November 2013 with over 1 million gamers pre-ordering the console. As of April 2014, 7 million units had been sold worldwide.
