Funcom has staple-gunned a May 3 release date to its upcoming theme pack horror fest, The Park.
The game will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and marks the studio’s first console launch since 2006’s Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. The Park was previously released on PC in October 2015, where it achieved more than 10 million views on YouTube.
In terms of inspiration, the title has taken much of its influence from the likes of Gone Home and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.
The Park sees gamers controlling Lorraine, a mother who has recently lost her son in a spooky amusement park. However, this isn’t just any ordinary park, as the game’s description elucidates:
"Amusement parks are happy places, filled with the innocent joys of childhood and the exhilarating rush of hair-raising, but safe adventure. Balloons, cotton candy, and fantastic rides to be dared. Perhaps that is how Lorraine pictured it too when she brought her son Callum to one… just before it descended into the most terrifying nightmare of her life."
"Most amusement parks are happy places, but not all of them."
