A new PS4 media player update has rolled out today via PSN to take advantage of the launch of PlayStation VR.

Update v2.50 adds support for:
- 360-degree videos
- 360-degree photos
- Audio upscaling
To take advantage of 360-degree videos and photos, you’ll need to have your PS VR headset connected to your PlayStation 4. Then take the following steps:
1. Activate VR mode from the Media Player’s Options menu
2. Choose your 360-degree video of photo from a media server or USB device
3. Sit back and enjoy the view!

Supported formats
The following video formats are supported, though they must have been captured by an omnidirectional camera in equirectangular format.
- MKV
- AVI
- MP4
- MPEG2 PS
- MPEG 2 TS
- AVCHD

- JPEG
