Sony Interactive Entertainment has started sending out email invites to PS4 public beta firmware 9.0, as reported by ResetEra member ‘nano.’
According to the user, the PS4 beta firmware 9.0 implements the following additions for Sony’s ageing workhorse:
- You can now view PS5 trophies on PS4
- Messages: If you’re the owner of a group, you can now delete messages in it
- If you block someone, you can now select if you want to leave the group only you and the other player are in
- If a child requests communication-functions from a game, the parent will get a notification via the PS4-system and the PlayStation app

Sony clearly isn’t abandoning the PS4 yet, and it’s no surprise considering considering it has a 100 million+ installed base. Furthermore, a number of its upcoming first-party exclusives, such as God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, and Gran Turismo 7, are also releasing on PS4 in addition to PS5.
