PS4 sales hit 900,000 units in Japan

PlayStation 4 sold 68,041 units in Japan during the week ended December 14, bringing the console’s total sales in the country to just over 900,000.

This graph from Dualshockers shows this was the highest week of sales since the console launched there in February 2014.

Sony’s latest home system likely saw an upsurge in sales due to Japan’s holiday spending season having reached its peak, as well as the release of Grand Theft Auto V and the Dragon Quest Heroes Metal Slime Editoin PS4.

The console may hit one million units by the end of the year, a much higher number than originally forecast. 

PS4 has sold 16 million units worldwide since its launch in the U.S. and Europe in November 2013.
