According to data tracked by Statista, PS4 sales numbers have reached over 108 million units worldwide as of March 2020. Previously, it was confirmed the platform had shipped 108.9 million as of December 31, 2019, but these latest numbers represent sold to consumers.
PS4 Sales Numbers Update
The site notes that the PS4 actually moved more units across the globe in its third and fourth years on the market than it managed in its first and second years, although the console obviously received a larger number of exclusives and was cheaper at retail by 2015 and beyond.
Sony expanded the PS4 family of consoles in 2016 with the release of the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim, as well as PSVR.
The PS4 launched in the US and UK back in November 2013 and arrived in Japan the following February. The system quickly established a comfortable lead over Xbox One, although Microsoft hasn’t provided any official sales figures for its console since late 2014.
Sony is gearing up for the release of the PS5 this holiday season.
