Sony Interactive Entertainment has rolled out PS4 system update 9.51, although if you’re hoping for anything exciting, then you had better rein in your expectations.
Yep, as you may have guessed, this is another one of those stability improvements. The official PS4 update 9.51 patch notes read: “This system software update improves system performance.”
At this point in the PS4’s lifecycle there aren’t likely to be any major updates in the pipeline, as was the case with PS3 back when its successor was in the limelight. Right now, Sony is busy keeping the PS5 up to date, with a new patch released for the console yesterday.
The PS4 was released in November 2013 in the US and UK, with a Japanese release following in February 2014. Sony announced that the console has shipped 116.9 million units worldwide as of December 31, 2021.
