PSN name change feature coming?
[UPDATE] Sony Europe and Sony US are now looking for beta testers for PS4 update 5.0. You can now sign up for the new beta phase at:
"As with previous updates, we’re recruiting for beta testers to get a head start with these new features, road-test them with us and provide feedback to help fine-tune and improve the way you play on PS4," writes Product Manager, Jayne Murphy.
Due to demand, Sony cannot guarantee a place on the PlayStation 4 firmware beta.
[ORIGNAL] The next PS4 update 5.0 looks like it will be launching soon as Sony Japan has just started the search for beta testers.
On the official Sony Japan site, the company requires PS4 owners to partake in the new beta testing phase of the next firmware update between July 19 and July 27.
The PlayStation site states: “The PS4 system software beta test is a test program that allows you to quickly try out features that are not provided by publicly available system software."
There’s currently no indication as to what new features will arrive in the latest PS4 patch.
The last major PS4 update was version 4.5 but it’s rumoured that the next patch will be named 5.0, suggesting a big step up from the previous update. Update 4.5 added a host of new features, including PS4 Pro Boost Mode.
Will PS4 update 5.0 deliver the much requested “PSN name change” feature? Let’s hope so.
We’d expect North American and European PS4 owners to hear more about the PS4 update beta in the coming weeks.
