The lifetime sales of PlayStation 4 hardware are soaring, and over the last few months Sony has been widening the gap even further from its main competitor, Microsoft and the Xbox One.
The latest PS4 sales data from VGChartz displays the gap at the graph below, showing lifetime PS4 sales in red, Xbox One sales in green and Nintendo Switch sales in blue.
According to the site, sales of PS4 consoles have surpassed 62 million, versus Xbox One’s 30.61 million. Nintendo Switch sales reportedly stand at 5.39 million.
The monthly sales graph is also interesting. Check out that gap in June between the two consoles, where PS4 sold approxiamtely four times as many units as Xbox One.
It also shows that PS4 monthly sales have been fell from June to July quite substantially, but so have Xbox One sales. How things will change with the upcoming launch of the Xbox One X in November remains to be seen, but you’d expect Microsoft to close the gap somewhat.
Still, with more than double the amount of PS4’s out in the wild, Microsoft has a very long way to go to catch up!
