PS4 will gain early edge over Xbox One, says Pachter

The PlayStation 4 has only been out for a couple of weeks, but that hasn’t stopped analysts from predicting the future.

The ‘Pach Attack’ that is Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Patcher made quite the prediction on a recent episode of the Game Trailers Show ‘Bonus Round’.

“Next year I’d say Sony outsells Microsoft by twenty-five percent, so probably 12 million to 9 million or something,” said Patcher while being questioned by host Geoff Keighley.

Patcher’s basis for this predicament is primarily based on the price difference between the PS4 and Xbox One, which he claimed will allow Sony to “keep the lead until Microsoft cuts the price or explains to us why that Kinect is actually worth an extra hundred bucks.”

Obviously it’s too early to pick who will win the console wars between Sony and Microsoft, or to know if they’ll be a clear cut winner, but Patcher stated that he thinks the new console generation will end “about where they came out this cycle” and that both will be more successful as the Wii U struggles to find momentum.

If both consoles will be neck and neck for the duration of their life cycles, what will separate them? Do you think Sony will be in trouble once Microsoft executes a price drop? Let us know your comments below.
