Sony has said it anticipates a “tremendous” amount of evolution for the PlayStation 4 during the course of its lifecycle.
Speaking during an interview with Polygon, PS4 lead architect Mark Cerny was quizzed whether or not the next-generation system is likely to undergo substantial changes as with its predecessor.
In response, Cerny said, “I think we’re going to see a tremendous amount of evolution yes, during the years of PlayStation 4. We don’t quite know what that’s going to be, but we do know that the one constant is change, that what people want is rapidly evolving, and a lot of what we’re doing is trying to figure out what that is and get ahead of it.”
PS3 of course has received two major hardware redesigns in the form of the PS3 Slim and the PS3 Super Slim.
PS4 is due for release in the U.S. tomorrow and in the U.K. and Europe on November 29.
