PS4 will support 4K ‘Ultra HD’ resolution for videos, not games

After last night’s PlayStation 4 reveal, a lot of questions have yet to be answered. For example, what is the output resolution of PS4?

The folks over at Joystiq asked Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida about the possibility of PS4 being able to output 4K resolution, described by some as "Ultra HD" and equal to 4096 x 2160 pixels. He mentioned that PS4 is capable of outputting videos already rendered in 4K, but games will not utilize such a resolution.

Does this mean 1080p all over again, or could the next step in game quality jump to 2K resolution? Give us your take in the comments section below and make sure to check out our PS4 event coverage!
