SEGA has teased that the next chapter in its highly popular gangster-’em-up series, Yakuza, will be fully unveiled for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on August 24.
The news comes via a new teaser website for the upcoming title, which was confirmed as in development for both systems earlier this summer.
While the series has stalled somewhat in the west – after all, the last title to arrive in the U.S. and Europe was zombie spin-off, Yakuza: Dead Souls, in 2012 – the franchise is continually well-received in its native Japan.
In fact, SEGA supported the launch of the PS4 in the region with the release of Yakuza: Ishin, which has also yet to receive a western release.
No details are currently available on the new Yakuza project, so it is unknown whether or not it will take the form of a historical adventure as with Ishin, or will follow the contemporary numbered entries.
Stay tuned to PSU for more details.
