Circana’s Mat Piscatella has revealed that the PS5 Digital Edition accounted for 39% of all PS5 consoles sold in the US during August 2024.

As previously reported, the PS5 was the overall best-selling video games console in North America during August 2024 in terms of unit and dollar sales. The month was pretty big for Sony as a whole, as the PlayStation Portal also turned in a solid performance, as did the PS5 DualSense Midnight Black controller.

The PS5 Digital Edition, which last year was re-released as a slimmer console alongside the disc-based version, allows users to purchase an attachable PS5 Disc Drive allowing you to play physical media. Furthermore, it was recently revealed that the PS5 Digital Edition recorded its second best ever month in the UK during September.

Sony is gearing up for the release of its next major hardware release in the form of the PS5 Pro, which arrives on November 7, 2024. The new system, which carries a hefty price tag of $699.99, offers far more power than the standard PS5, allowing games to run with improved visual fidelity and frame rates. Its Boost function also enhances the performance of over 8,500 backwards compatible PS4 games.
