While Steam previously integrated some basic PS5 DualSense functionality earlier in the month, the company has now added official support for the new Sony-manufactured controller for you to take advantage of.
Steam Adds Official PS5 DualSense Support
The Steam Input API now allows official support for the PS5 controller, which means you’re able to easily set up configurations to enjoy titles such as Horizon Zero Dawn and Death Stranding. Here’s the official blurb from Steam on what full PS5 DualSense compatibility means:
- Seamless player experience with correct glyphs for all devices, including any remapping.
- Support for advanced features such as motion controls, rumble, trackpads, additional buttons.
- Updates just work. Without any additional work required of the developer, when new features and/or devices are added to the API, they will “just work” with these titles.
This is obviously great news for those of you who prefer playing PC games with controllers, which seems to be very popular nowadays.
