PS5 Faceplate Company Returns For Its Third Iteration And Claims It’s ‘Untouchable’

CMP Shells is the third iteration of the company previously known as PlateStation 5 and CustomizeMyPlates, and has returned to flog its custom PS5 faceplates with new claims that it’s ‘untouchable’ following legal threats from Sony last year.

Launching yesterday, the company has a range of black shells for the PS5 Standard Edition, which will set you back $49.99 and begins shipping in February.

You may recall that the company was forced to rebrand from its original PlateStation 5 name after Sony got in touch, and later relaunched as CustomizeMyPlates. However, it ran into further problems and ended up puling its range of custom PS5 faceplates from sale.

The patent is pending and all sales finalized before it’s approved are untouchable. We didn’t know before. Now we do. Further we have not replicated anyone’s proprietary design. Our shells improve upon the original by allowing for more ventilation. We will be able to sell even after the patent is approved.

CMP plans to manufacturer 1,000 shells for its initial rollout and claims that it has moved double that amount in 24 hours back in its CustomizeMyPlates days.

Third time lucky for CMP? We’ll have to watch this space!
