PS5 Firmware Update 7.00 To Reportedly Introduce Discord, Cloud Streaming For PS5 Games

According to sources at Insider-Gaming, the upcoming PS5 firmware 7.00 update will introduce a number of key features to Sony’s current-generation telly box, including full Discord integration and streamable PS5 games via the cloud.

The next major PS5 system update is reportedly set for March 8, 2023, and that a public Beta for the update will be rolled out in the coming days, and will supposedly wrap on January 30. However, the site’s sources claim that Discord integration will not be available during the Beta.

According to the report, the cloud streaming of PS5 games will be featured as part of the PS Plus Premium tier, and is known by the project named Cronus.

Discord integration has been a long time coming, with Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and President, Jim Ryan, commented in May 2021:

Together, our teams are already hard at work connecting Discord with your social and gaming experience on PlayStation Network. Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences closer together on console and mobile starting early next year, allowing friends, groups, and communities to hang out, have fun, and communicate more easily while playing games together.
