What Graphics Card Does PS5 Have?
Sony utilises a AMD Radeon RDNA 2 to power the PS5’s graphics, which is known amongst tech enthusiasts as the Oberon. This is a custom-made GPU from AMD that was manufactured specifically for use in Sony’s current-generation console. The Oberon is quite a beast, featuring a die area of 30 8mm² and 10,600 million transistors, and is built on a 7nm processor.
In terms of PC graphics cards, the PS5 GPU can be seen as the equivalent to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX and the Radeon RX 5700 XT. However, they differ in specifications and you can’t really compare the PS5’s graphics card with that of a PC, as the GPU in Sony’s hardware is custom-built for console functionality.
