The latest Famitsu sales data has revealed that ongoing stock shortages in Japan have seen the PS5 outsold by Xbox Series X/S for another week.
Microsoft’s latest home consoles managed to shift more than double the number of units as the PS5, with Xbox Series X moving 3,272 consoles while the Xbox Series S sold 3,423 units. By comparison, Sony’s latest home console sold 2,371 and 664 units for the Standard and Digital-Only Edition, respectively.

As mentioned, the fluctuating sales figures are simply down to stock supplies in Japan, as the previous week PS5 managed to sell 12,440 compared to a combined X/S sales of 6,242.
The PS5 was released in November 2020 in the US, UK, Europe, and other major territories, and has now sold over 20 million units worldwide. Sony launched its new PS Plus service this week in major regions including the EU, where subscribers can now choose between three tiers instead of one.
