Sony will reportedly kick off PS5 pre-orders today, following news that a Twitter user was able to put down a deposit for the next-generation console at GameStop Ireland.

‘Bearded.Locutus’ posted a picture of his receipt for the PS5 pre-order as proof of the transaction. He apparently went into his local GameStop to trade in his Xbox One, at which point he was asked if he’d like to pre-order the PS5 or Xbox Series X.

Sony hasn’t said anything about putting pre-orders live today, so take this with a pinch of salt for the time being. Furthermore, it appears that GameStop Ireland have been taking pre-orders for the console since Sony’s event in June, so this may not mean much at all.
The PS5 is slate for release in holiday 2020 alongside the Xbox Series X from Microsoft. A delay is not expected despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
