PS5 Pro Allows Sony To Triple Hardware Sales In Japan For November 2024

Sales of the PS5 has tripled in Japan during November compared to the previous month due to the release of the PS5 Pro, the latest Famitsu data has revealed.

Launching on November 7, the high-end console moved 102,092 units, with overall PS5 sales hitting 151,000 between all three versions of system. Unlike the original release of the PS5 back in November 2020, the PS5 Pro has been readily available at retailers, with no major stock shortages to speak of .

Meanwhile on the software front, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake remains top of the charts, with the game having sold 913,000 units in Japan since its launch on November 14, 2024. The Switch edition moved 712,188 copies in two weeks, with the PS5 version shifting 200,944 copies.

The PS5 Pro offers a number of technical advantages over the original 2020 model, with faster frame rates, improved resolution, and the addition of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) to greatly enhance the performance of compatible software.
