PS5 Pro To Account For Up To 20% Of All PS5s Sold In First Two Months Of Launch, Says Circana Analyst

GamesIndustry.biz has published an article musing on how well the PS5 Pro will sell, with Circana’s Mat Piscatella predicting that Sony’s high-end console could account for up to 20% of all PS5s sold within its first two months on sale in the US.

Piscatella noted that PS4 Pro made up 13% of PS4’s total unit sales in the US and 15% of its lifetime dollar sales. Therefore, he anticipates PS5 Pro to account for 9 — 15% of unit sales, and a bit higher in dollar sales due to its premium price.

The PS5 Pro has drummed up a lot of controversy for its price tag following its announcement earlier this week, with Sony confirming it will retail for $699.99/£699.99. The new system will offer more powerful tech specs than the standard PS5, and will offer a PS5 Pro Enhanced label, which enhances the performance of compatible titles by increasing the resolution and/or frame rate.

Elsewhere, the console’s Boost Mode will enhanced performance of over 8,500 backwards compatible PS4 titles, as well as offer improvements to select PS5 games.

The PS5 Pro is scheduled for release on November 7, 2024.
