PS5 Sales Accounted For Over Half Of UK Console Market In Q1 2023, Resident Evil 4 Remake Sells Best On PlayStation During March

The latest GSD and GfK data has revealed that sales of PS5 accounted for more than half the number hardware sold during the first quarter of 2023 in the UK.

Q1 saw a year-on-year rise of 24.2% in terms of console hardware performance, with PS5 driving sales thanks to the system no longer being plagued by stock shortages. As such, PS5 sales are up a massive 180% for the first three months of the year, while Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X/S fell 25% and 18%, respectively.

In terms of software sales for March 2023, Resident Evil 4 Remake was the main bread winner, reaching the number one spot despite launching only just over a week before the end of the month. Its sales thus far are below that of Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil Village, but still tracking ahead of Resident Evil 3 Remake.

Furthermore, PlayStation formats accounted for 65% of sales for Resident Evil 4 Remake, with 20% and 15% attributed to Xbox and PC, respectively. The game last managed to hold off Hogwarts Legacy, which continues its massive commercial success in second place.
