PS5 Scalper Defends Business, Claims He’s Helping Create Young Entrepreneurs

Aftermarket Arbitrage’s Jack Bayliss is a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S scalper that claims he’s neutering young entrepreneurs with his subscription service, where members play him £30 per month to be informed of the latest restock of key valuable goods.

Bayliss is able to earn around £45,000 per month by aiding other individuals to procure valuable goods such as PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, before re-selling them at higher prices before the public can purchase them.

However, he told Sky he’s “very in tine with his moral compass” and is conscious that some families are unable to buy consoles due to his business, a practice we’ve seen with many scalpers since the launch of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

I get to see the flip side of the coin, the area that the media and the general public who hate us quote ‘scalpers’ [don’t see]. To me, owning the PS5 or an Xbox isn’t a necessity, it’s a luxury, okay? If you can afford to spend £450, spending the extra £100 should be pretty marginal, if you’ve got cash ready to splash on that.

Yes, some families are gonna have to pay another £100, but what you don’t think about is our members, they’ve got 30 consoles, they’re making £100 on each one. And then they’re making a good month’s salary in a couple of days.

What they’re doing is they’re being entrepreneurs, they’re going out, creating a side income, and they’re doing something that 90% of the population can’t be bothered to do.

The PS5 was released in November 2020 in the US, Europe, and other major markets, and is still not readily available worldwide due to supply issues.
