Sony Interactive Entertainment has released PS5 system update 23.02-08.20.02.06 for you to download, although don’t get your hopes up for anything major; we only just received PS5 firmware 23.02.08.20.00.06, which added a bunch of key improvements for Sony’s flagship console.
The PS5 system update patch notes are as follows: “This system software update improves system performance.”
The PS5 will be receiving its first major redesign this month with the release of the PS5 Slim (okay, that’s not its official name, but it’s as good as), which reduces the weight and size of the console by small margin so that the console is slightly less chunky than the launch model.
Once Sony has sold all of its current launch versions of the PS5, the redesigned console will effectively replace the original day one version of the machine at retail.
