Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced plans to release a Crunchyroll anime hub for the PS5 in Spring 2027.
The new Crunchyroll anime hub for the console is “designed to make it easier for the PlayStation community to discover and explore the anime content they enjoy.” Crunchyroll has of course been available for the PS5 since the console launched in November 2020 via a dedicated app, but this latest addition is looking to make the anime hub an integral part of the user-home experience for users.
“Anime and gaming have deeply engaged and overlapping fan communities, and the new experience will bring those worlds closer together on PS5,” said Crunchyroll’s statement. “Whether longtime anime fans or discovering a series through a game, character or world they already love, players will have a dedicated place to discover anime and anime-inspired games and easily access the full Crunchyroll app.”
Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll, commented: “From Crunchyroll membership on PlayStation, to the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima: Legends anime series. Today, we take that partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment one step further with an anime hub on PlayStation. Serving fans means meeting them where they already are.”
The Crunchyroll anime hub for PS5 is scheduled to arrive in Spring 2027.
