Circana’s Mat Piscatella has revealed that Sony emerged victorious in the November 2025 hardware dustup, with the PS5 ranking as the best-selling hardware platform in terms of units and dollars.
Writing in a post on BlueSky, Piscatella noted that this is the first time that this has happened scene the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, which arrived in June 2025. The hybrid console managed second place to Sony’s current-generation system, with video game spending growing by 1% year-on-year, reaching $4.8 billion.
Elsewhere, Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 came out on top as the best-selling title for November 2025, and is the seventh best-selling game of 2025 year-to-date. Having said that, full game dollar sales experienced a double-digit decline for the franchise compare to the same period last year.
November was obviously a big month for gaming hardware sales, as it included Black Friday deals; Sony heavily discounted the PS5 during this period, so obviously it paid off judging by Circana data.
The PS5 has now been available for just over five years now, having debuted in major markets during the midst of the coronavirus pandemic in November 2020.
