PS4 firmware update 2.04 is available to download, but there’s growing reports of various issues this morning, including users who cannot access PSN.
The PSN down detector shows a growing list of users reporting that the PSN is offline, though it’s unclear whether this is a general issue or if it’s associated with the firmware update.
We reported earlier that Reddit users are reporting trouble either downloading the update, or problems associated with it after installation. Issues include being locked out of account management options or being able to download digital content.
Right at this moment, we are recommended PS4 owners NOT to download the update, which is said to improve stability issues, until we have an update from Sony.
The official word from Sony is that PSN is still online, which suggests that firmware update 2.04 may be the cause of the trouble with some users.
