DICE boss Patrick Bach has stated his belief that the external intrusion which hit PlayStation Network earlier this year will lead to a better overall service for consumers.
"I think its good that the problem is getting sorted now so that similar things won’t happen again. However, of course, it’s hurting us here and now but I think in the long-run it won’t matter, and it’ll actually create a better online service for PS3 owners,” Bach told PSM3.
"I think it’s sad that it happened, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Everyone has to just live with it, I’m glad it has been dealt with, and I’m not worried about the future."
Sony’s online service was compromised by hackers in April, resulting in the company having to pull PSN offline completely for nearly four weeks while the situation was resolved.
Fortunately, the console maker has now fully restored PSN worldwide, as well as offering punters a bunch of free games as compensation for the outage via its ‘Welcome Back’ initiative.
