The PlayStation Network offers some of the most diverse, free online content. This month, we’ll see that diversity include free episodes of Sony’s first-ever PlayStation Network exclusive reality series, called “The Tester.”
The show pegs 11 hopeful gamers from across America to compete in physical and mental challenges with the ultimate goal of winning a position as a game tester for Sony Computer Entertainment America and a $5,000 USD signing bonus. The gamers will be judged and scrutinized by a panel of judges, including actor/comedian Hal Sparks.
The show will track contestants through eight episodes, with all the typical reality show goodness – forming alliances and breaking emotions. The different tests will include using giant slingshots, paintball guns, and human hamster balls to battle in a series of elimination challenges. The contestants competing in these challenges range in age between 22 to 26-years-old and come from all walks of life- a student, a paramedic, and even a used car salesman.
Connecting PS3 and PSP owners to great entertainment options and original digital content experiences such as Flower, flOw and Fat Princess has always been a cornerstone of our vision for PlayStation Network," said Peter Dille, senior vice president of marketing and PlayStation Network. "With the addition of the original series, The Tester, we further establish PlayStation Network as the preeminent destination for digital entertainment in the living room or in the palm of your hand."
The show starts on Thursday, Feb. 18 and will run through April 8 with new and free episodes added each week. You can download the show via the PlayStation Store on your PlayStation 3 or PSP. You can also have that collective experience by watching it at the PlayStation Home Theatre every Thursday.
