PSP Firmware v6.10 coming soon, includes tethering

In preparation of the PSPgo launch, Sony will soon release PSP update v6.10, an update that is intended to ensure compatibility with Media Go and all PSP titles.

New features will include SensMe, which is a new music application for the PSP that uses Sony’s proprietary 12 Tone Analysis technology that evaluates music tracks you import from the Media Go application on your PC or PSP.

This video will further explain this new feature:

The PlayStation Store for the PSP and PSPgo via Media Go (v1.2) will receive a new look on Thursday, Oct. 1. Media Go is a free PC software application that allows you to organize and transfer music, photos, and videos between your PC and PSP. You can access the PlayStation Store to purchase, backup, and restore PSP games, as well. While you can always access the Store on your PSP or PSPgo via a hotspot, you can also use your PC to download movies, games, and TV shows for you PSP. You can also export playlists onto your PSP.

The other new feature coming with update v6.1 is the tethering ability, which allows you to use a Bluetooth mobile device, like a mobile phone, as a modem to connect your PSPgo to the internet. So, if you aren’t near a wifi spot, you have a way to get access to the internet via your Bluetooth mobile device.
