PSP2 reveal at E3?

Sony has a knack for letting major announcements slip into the blogosphere before it actually wants to reveal anything. You probably remember the PSPgo, PlayStation 3 Slim, and the PS3 price drop all had plenty of press attention before they were even revealed. So, does a rumor circulating about a possible PSP2 announcement at E3 mean we’ll actually see the next generation of Sony’s handheld device?

According to MCV, which has information from a senior industry source, two key publishers have significantly increased marketing for Q4 2010. And, yet another publisher is apparently waiting for a specific announcement from Sony before it reveals future PSP plans.

It should be noted that this is all based on speculation, of course, and there is no information or rumors of official sightings of the PSP2. But, we have heard rumors of a PSP2 for a while, so it’s safe to assume that anything is possible.

The PSP is very strong in the east; however, western markets are not as strong for the handheld device that’s now in its sixth year of existence. Overall, the PSP has done quite well, but little is known of official sales figures to the latest version – the PSPgo.

As big PSP fans, we would love to see a brand new handheld device. If we had a say in the design, we’d like to see dual analog sticks, phone capabilities, a built in camera, touch screen, even the ability to record video.

If you could help design a new handheld device for Sony, what would you like to see? Remember, there is no official announcement that Sony is even working on a new handheld device, this is all based on rumors at this point.
