The issue of the R18+ classification for video games in Australia has flared up again, with New South Wales Attorney-General, Greg Smith, calling for a ban on all violent and sexually explicit games, despite giving his support to the introduction of the adults only classification.
Jim Wallace, Managing Director of the Australian Christian Lobby, has also spoken against the games, once again citing text from manifesto of Anders Behring Breivik, the assailent behind the Norway Massacre earlier this year, who claims he used Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as his "training simulator."
Speaking with Kotaku Australia, a representitive for Greg Smith stated that "The AG doesn’t want any dilution of the Refused Classification category for games, but remains fully committed to an R18+ rating for video games."
