Ubisoft has released the official launch trailer for its squad-based shooter, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
Check it out below. The game’s beta has now gone live on all platforms after a brief delay, with the full game launching on December 1. Alongside Just Cause 3, it’s one of the last major releases of 2015 before things quieten down for the Christmas holidays.
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege takes the form of a first-person shooter and is powered by the AnvilNext game engine. The game is also considered a proper successor to the canceled project, Rainbow Six: Patriots. Siege places a large emphasis on environmental destruction and co-op between players as they team up to conquer opposing forces. The game takes place several years after the deactivation of the Rainbow Program, which has been started up again by a mysterious individual known only as ‘Six.’
Gamers are pitted against a new foe known as The White Masks as they assume control of an operator in the Rainbow squad. Each operator will be unique in the sense they have their own nationality, perks, abilities and equipment to make use of in battle. While there is a heavy emphasis on multiplayer co-op action, Rainbow Six Siege will also incorporate a single-player campaign for those who wish to tackle things solo, though you can team up with a friend if you wish. The beta runs at 1080p on PS4, and with the game’s launch so close this is surely to be the case for the full release.
The Tom Clancy series will return next year with the launch of the hotly anticipated Tom Clancy’s The Division, a post-pandemic action-shooter due out on PS4, PC, and Xbox One on March 8.
