Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart Dev Reveals Hidden Minigame As PS5 Platformer Celebrates 4th Anniversary

Insomniac Games has celebrated the four-year anniversary of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart by revealing mini game that has remained undiscovered until now.

Grant Parker, the game’s senior designer, revealed how to unlock the mini game during a stream marking the fourth anniversary of the plaformer. In order to access it, you’ll have to first visit the space station Zurkie’s and head to the entrance, where you’ll spot a ‘no weapons’ sign positioned at either side of the door.

You then have to shoot the signs a certain amount of times in a specific order: Left five times, right four times, and left 13 times. Next, head into Zurkie’s and go to the mechanical bull in the space station and trigger the game by holding down L2. Parker was quick to note that this mini game is a bit rough as it’s only in a prototype phase.

Obviously [it was a] super duper early prototype that would take a lot more love to get into a really fun, interesting place. But [it was] just something fun that I thought I’d leave in the game for a way that only I could access, and now four years later, when the opportunity came up, I was like ‘well, nobody’s found it by now, might as well spill the beans’, see if people want to mess around with it.

Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart was released on June 11, 2021 for the PS5, and was one of the earliest titles for Sony’s console that really flexed the hardware muscles. Back in January, Insomniac Games said that it was “interested” in working on film and TV adaptations of its IPs, with particular interest in Ratchet & Clank.
