Red Dead Redemption 2 Native PS5 & Xbox Series Release Outed In FTC Vs Microsoft Court Case Documents

Documents that have leaked from Microsoft’s court battle with the Federal Trade Commission have revealed that a native PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version of Red Dead Redemption 2 was allegedly in the pipeline.

Xbox overlord Phil Spencer is seen in various email exchanges with staff regarding the gap in the Xbox Game Pass schedule caused by Starfield’s delay from 2022 to 2023. As such, the Microsoft team went about discussing possible projects to plug the gap, with ‘RDR2′ and ‘T2′ listed on page 2, index 5 in the leaked document.

Further details reveal that the Xbox manufacturer was expecting Rockstar to ask for more than five million dollars a month, but the company expected Red Dead Redemption 2 would bring 10 million monthly hours to Game Pass. It also cast doubt on a PC version of the game.

While the prospect of a RDR 2 native PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version is good news, Microsoft expected the game to arrive in Q2 of the 2023 fiscal year, which means around October — December 2022. That didn’t happen, and it’s currently unknown if the project is still going to materialise.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was originally released for PS4 and Xbox One in October 2018, and you can read our full review here.
