Silent Hill: Downpour developer Vatra Games is in danger of being shuttered, reports Eurogamer.
According to the Czech-based studio’s owner, Kuji, the company is currently under review though the firm stressed that “no decisions have yet been made.”
“The new management team at Kuju have been conducting a strategic review of all aspects of the business,” said the company. “As part of the process, the on-going business activities of the Vatra studio are currently under review. However, at this stage, no decisions have yet been made.”
Formed in 2009, Vatra has only released two games to date: the aforementioned Silent Hill: Downpour and Rush ‘n Attack: Ex Patriot.
News of the studio’s possible closure is disappointing, not just for those involved, but also because Downpour, despite its flaws, wasn’t actually a bad game at all. I for one would have loved to see the company have another crack at the Silent Hill franchise in the future.
We’ll keep you posted on any future developments.
