Capcom has released the PlayStation 4 version of Resident Evil 5 today, with the game now available to download via the PlayStation Store for £15.99.
The action-horror sequel, which was originally released back in 2009 for PS3 and Xbox 360, weighs in at just under 17GB.
In addition to featuring prettier visuals thanks to the added technical muscle of PS4, Resi 5 also includes all available downloadable content (Lost in Nightmares & Desperate Escape) plus The Mercenaries United, which combines The Mercenaries and The Mercenaries Reunion into one package.
Finally, the game also adds the former PC-exclusive No Mercy mode into the mix, marking the first time this feature is available on a home console.
Resident Evil 5 takes place in a remote African region known as Kijuju, and sees veteran zombie slayer Chris Redfield, now a member of the BSAA, teaming up with local agent Sheva Alomar to investigate a mysterious biohazard outbreak.
Unlike previous entries in the venerable survival horror franchise, Resi 5 introduces a co-op mode for the main campaign, with two players able to team up either locally or online to tackle the game together.
Resident Evil turns 20, Capcom celebrates with re-releases and Resident Evil 7 announcement
Capcom is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Resident Evil throughout 2016, and has recently announced that the next major instalment in the series, Resident Evil 7, will arrive in January 2017 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
In addition, the Japanese giant is also working on a full-fledged remake of Resident Evil 2, and will re-release the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 4 for current-generation formats this fall. Spinoff Umbrella Corps is now available for PS4, though you’ll probably want to avoid it like a plague of T-Virus infected dogs.
