Fed up of waiting for the Resident Evil 2 Remake release? Then check out this pixel-perfect Resident Evil 7 Demake, which shows just how Capcom’s horror outing would look if it were made in 1998.

The brief snippet comes courtesy of YouTuber ‘98Demake,’ who specialises in recreating modern PlayStation games in 32-bit form.

Resident Evil 7: biohazard is his latest effort, and the results speak for themselves. Gone are the gorgeous, first-person visuals, instead replaced by the classic fixed camera angles of old. Even the sound effects have been demade, echoing that of the earlier Resident Evil titles.

The demake is taken from the early stages of the game, where protagonist Ethan Winters is pursued by Jack Baker. The Baker patriarch has also received a ‘98 makeover, right down to the dodgy animations.

Resident Evil 2 Remake release still TBA

Capcom announced development of the Resident Evil 2 Remake back in August 2015, although we’ve seen nothing on the project since. The past few months have provided a few minor updates, including the fact certain cast members won’t be returning.

Leon S. Kennedy’s voice actor, Paul Mercer, confirmed he’s not returning to voice the rookie cop in the project. Sadly, Claire Redfield’s original voice actress, Alyson Court, will also not be involved in the remake.

Stay tuned for more details on the Resident Evil 2 Remake release as we get them.
