Fresh details on the upcoming Resident Evil 7 End of Zoe DLC have leaked online via NeoGAF, revealing some interesting tidbits on the production behind the upcoming expansion.
According to a well-known insider on the popular gaming forum, End of Zoe will be set in a completely new location in the Louisiana swamplands, and is directed by one of the lead creative minds behind Silent Hills’ P.T.
As such, the End of Zoe DLC update is very much a horror-focused effort, and was reportedly even a proof of concept for Resident Evil 8.
Elsewhere, the insider also provided some new info on Not a Hero, the free expansion starring Chris Redfield. Apparently, the reason for the delay was down to the fact the DLC was initially developed by a third-party studio, but Capcom wasn’t happy with the quality of the product.
As such, Capcom decided to rework various aspects of Not a Hero themselves, including locations, game mechanics, and more, hence why the release date was pushed from spring to winter 2017.
In terms of content, Not a Hero takes place immediately after the events of Resident Evil 7’s main campaign, and is seen as something of a true ending to the game. New areas are included in the DLC, as well as a brand new Molded to battle, and it’s said to be a mix of both action and horror.
Finally, Not a Hero will feature a proper boss battle and expands on some of the final areas of the game to explore.
Capcom announced yesterday that Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition will launch in December 2017 alongside End of Zoe and Not a Hero. The former will be available free to Season Pass holders or can be purchased separately for $14.99/£11.99.
