Resident Evil 7 gets creepy cinematic trailer, new details confirm rural America setting

Capcom has revealed more details on the upcoming Resident Evil 7: biohazard, confirming the first-person horror title will be powered by the new RE Engine.

Announced earlier today during Sony’s press conference, Resident Evil 7 takes place in rural America following the events of 2012’s Resident Evil 6, and looks set to offer an ‘unprecedented level of immersion.’

The RE Engine, which builds upon the Kitchen VR tech demo from last year, offers a terrifying new perspective on Capcom’s venerable series, with the action taking place from a first-person viewpoint. Resi 7 also offers completely refreshed gameplay mechanics, although details are being kept under wraps at present.

Pre-orders are now available for North American customers via the PlayStation Store, with two versions of the game up for grabs: Standard and Digital Deluxe. Furthermore, those of you who pre-order either edition will be able to enjoy the Survival Pack at launch, plus a PS4 Dynamic Theme.
